This is the location of Abraham Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address. It was also set aside shortly after the end of war for the bodies of those who sacrificed all during the War. The town and leaders were so devastated that done bodies hadn’t even been buried. Also, eventually the Confederate soldier bodies were transported to Southern states. It’s a beautiful location and meant to be a special place of silence and rememberance.
They cemetery has an oval shaped, paved walkway to take it all in.
