We stayed at this state park. These are volcanoes that are not active. We have been surrounded by cactus and bees. There were swarms of bees in our RV by sunrise and would stay around until noon. We learned how to adapt, but it wasn’t easy.

The sunsets were amazing! We went on a trail right before sunset. It was 108° at 6:30pm.

We only had electric… There were no electric or sewage hookups. We showered in the bathhouse often. That is definitely out of my comfort zone. Thankfully the bathrooms were clean; however there was a little scorpion that joined our showers for a couple of nights.

Every morning that we left early, we saw jackrabbits hopping around. So, we tried an early morning hike. All the we saw was a lizard and chipmunk. Of course, the cactus wren area always active. It was pretty hot at 6:45am.

The hike was short but we gained some elevation. In the two white arrows, you can see the truck and interstate 10.
