Mile High Stadium

Posted on 08/14/202308/16/2023

The stadium is nicknamed Mile High due to not only its predecessor, but due to the city’s elevation of 1 mile or 5,280 feet (1,610 m) above sea level. Given the difficulty of competing at altitude, as well as the notoriously loud fans, the Broncos are known to have one of the best home field advantages in the NFL. (Info from online source.)

The Broncos do not own the stadium. They pay to use it. Their training facilities are not at this location. The stadium is funded by people renting out the facilities. They have weddings, proms, and many other events. While we were there, they were preparing for a concert.

When they built the new stadium, it didn’t have the metal floor, which made for loud stomping. They tried to recreate it after the fans complained. They put in metal boxes on all of the ground, but it still wasn’t the same.

They have 8 walk in keg room freezers that are all utilized on game day.
Replica of old stadium. It’s also in the same location as the old stadium. You can buy a ticket and tailgate there.
Fashioned after Roy Rogers’ horse, but they were required to change the name. The name is Bucky.

They commissioned artists to create sculptures. This artist envisioned an athlete who lost against the Broncos. He threw off pieces of his gear as her left the area.
