This is a combination of a commercialized activity and a national park site. It was named Gateway because it served as the gateway to the West. You ride up on either the south or north side and ride back down the same way. The middle is a small walkway for viewing.
It was a once in a lifetime experience. Haha! I’m not a fan of Ferris wheels… And that’s pretty much what this was. It is the highest manmade structure in the United States.
They are restoring the old courthouse with a plan to add it to this national park site.
They have a great museum inside near where you ride the arch up.
