We were on that long bridge in LA on i10 for so long that I decided to see how long it actually is. Its facts are pretty interesting:
The Atchafalaya Basin Bridge, also known as the Louisiana Airborne Memorial Bridge is a pair of parallel bridges in the U.S. state of Louisiana between Baton Rouge and Lafayette which carries Interstate 10 over the Atchafalaya Basin. With a total length of 96,095 feet (29,290 m; 18 mi; 29 km), it is the third longest bridge in the US, the second longest on the interstate system, and 14th-longest in the world by total length.
Malachi has had us watch Gator Boys (Everglades and some Mississippi) and Guardian of the Glades (Everglades). Sean puts on Swamp People sometimes (LA Bayou). I’ve learned a lot from those shows!! On this car ride, we have seen the Mississippi mud and the Louisiana bayou.
The Texas welcome center is amazing! It has a long boardwalk asking the Texas swamplands. We even saw a gator nest…
