Mount Lemmon is 9,000 feet above sea level. It is a 24 minute drive to reach the top. In the winter, it is a snow ski resort. This is located near Tucson.
We decided to do a hike for 4th of July. It is always 20° cooler at the top of the mountain, but it was still a warm desert. We were filthy when we finished. We were also reminded that two miles is our limit for some of our crew…. And that’s pushing it. Our hike was about 3.4 miles. When we finished, we ate pizza and cookies at the Cookie Cabin.
Note: they were forced to wear the hats. Don’t judge their personal style on those. 😂😂
We started our journey surrounded by cactus.
By the time we reached the top, we were in the trees .. Including pine trees on the trail.
We took a break before heading back. The boys walked on down to explore. I took the snack bag from my back and put it on the rock where I was sitting. Well, it kept sliding.. Sean had to dig it out for us. Thankfully, it missed the stagnant water.
